Lunar New Year

The lunar new year is upon us, and it's time for music, festivals, dancing, and celebration!

Celebrated by multiple cultures around the world, the lunar new year is based on the lunar cycles, or the lunisolar calendar, and is celebrated on the first calendar new moon. Unlike the Gregorian calendar, which is used in most parts of the world, the lunar calendar has been around for centuries, and the Chinese calendar dating back as far as the 14th century BCE.

For the year 2024, according to the Chinese calendar and Zodiac, we have arrived upon the year of the Dragon, in the element of wood.

Dragons are known to be celestial rulers, with the wood Dragon being very auspicious, and coming only once every 60 years. Wood Dragons are known to be confident, creative, adventurous, nurturing, and hold strong leadership qualities as well as loads of enthusiasm.

To be in tune with the Wood Dragon in 2024, is to be anchored deep into the Earth, learning to adapt and be flexible when spreading ones branches, and using both personal inner strength, as well as natural nurturing abilities to create a better world.

Leading up to the Lunar New Year on 10th February 2024, it is ideal to have a clean-out, a spring clean for both health and home, for the new year to be welcomed fresh! So take the time to prepare and release. Classes and events to celebrate the Lunar New Year will be held across the weekend of 10th-11th February via Nicole from Sunshine Harmony (in person). Lunar New Year celebrations in Australia will continue for 15 days. Local events can be found across most major cities.
