In our final transition between seasons from Autumn to Winter, and with the weather cooling rapidly here in Australia, there is a deepening desire for internal comforts, as well as the recognition of making the most of natures warmth at the peak of day. This is a wonderful time to share food together, both inside and outside of the home; enjoying company (with self or otherwise), the decreasing sun glimpses, as well as keeping an appreciation of warmth within the home.

So as the reducing light leads us deeper into the heart of Yin (lunar, coolness, darkness, reflection) as taught in Traditional Chinese Medicine, as well as gradually moving from Vata (dryness, coldness, movement) to Kapha (heaviness, coldness, stability) dosha as taught in Ayurveda, it is recognised that not only do these ancient systems of teachings somewhat align, but at times also the internal reflection of letting go, going within, and a darkening mood for some. And it is right here that Cooking with Love is the most healing gift of all.
Eating a healthy, organic, and prana-rich diet is NOT the only way to inner health - it is also in the preparation process of our food, where we allow ourselves time to slow down, energetically fill our food with love, positive thoughts and smiles, as well as eat mindfully and consciously. Sound a bit woo woo? Well perhaps take yourself to a time when cooking a meal was rushed, or it was cooked in 'a mood'. How did it turn out? How did it taste? Not so great?
Cooking with Love is healing, not only for ourselves, but also for others. Have you ever been unwell and had someone drop off some home-cooked food, isn't it wonderful! And the mircaulous thing is not only the act of giving food itself (although this is great), but most importantly the love and thoughtfulness that has been put into it. It's a complete mood lifter!
So the next time YOU cook, try it, put a little move love into your food, maybe even go a bit wild with some uplifting music and dancing, then witness the healing magic you can create in each and every day.
