Guiding the images of leaves in yellows, oranges, and reds, Autumn can be seen throughout the natural world as a time of slowing down as well as transformation. Leading from Summer, and the season of Energy/Yang, into Autumn and Cooling/Yin, this transition period suits an introspective nature, observing the harvest or where we have been rewarded for our hard work, as well as noticing where improvements in all aspects of life can be called-in.
One of the fundamental actions for this time is recognising where our boundaries have perhaps not been as clear as they should have, and within this is an opportunity to realise where true value exists so we can let go of unhealthy and unvalued connections.

It is within this space of letting go that we witness the opportunity of the Autumn Equinox. Arriving here in Australia on 20th March 2024, this is one of only four special and celebrated times of the natural world, throughout the year, where yogic practices are magnified for a deepening of ones life-experience and personal journey.
With the Autumn Equinox arrives almost equal hours of daylight as well as night. This union of light and dark encompasses a balance that can be utilised within, embodying our own personal union, self-awareness, as well as guiding us for the cooler months ahead. Preparing our internal environments now, such as in the home and workplace, as well as within, activates the process of gathering, checking for resilience and durability, as well as making sure all that we need is at hand.
Some foods to support the health of our bodies during Autumn include apples, dates, garlic, beetroot, broccoli, limes, and pear. Drinking warm water as well as Yogi tea is also beneficial. Yin yoga, pranayama and meditation are all supportive practices as we look towards the health of our lungs and elimination functions of the body. And most of all, don't forget to smile - this action in itself is so healing, even throughout the most transformational times.
